Greetings and thank you for your interest in the Mary Jane Legacy Project (MJLP). The MJLP is the first nationwide examination of Black women’s post-secondary and post-baccalaureate pathways and the first national archive capturing these experiences from a wide array of Black women. The MJLP name honors Mary Jane Patterson, the first Black woman to receive a bachelor’s degree in the United States. We invite you to share your story by creating a testimonial video about your college experience. Please keep your submission to two minutes or less and respond to the following prompts:
Intro: Please tell us your name1). My most memorable college experience was [Fill in the Blank]
2). My most challenging experience in college was [Fill in the Blank]
3). To me, having a college degree means [Fill in the Blank]
4). Any additional highlights (e.g. institution attended, year graduated, any other memories)
This is an opportunity to share milestones, successes, and challenges in an effort to disrupt monolithic notions of Black women’s degree attainment and post-baccalaureate experiences. Your story will be shared on social media, MJLP events, research presentations, or through any other venue for educational purposes. For more information about the MJLP, please visit our website: https://www.blackgirloncampus.com. Follow us on social media: Twitter: @MJLP1862; Instagram: @MJLP1862
